Within the framework of the DRM project, and in the mandate of the National Task Force established by the Prime Minister to develop a National Response Plan, a workshop entitled: “Management of Field Operations during incidents” was organized by the Directorate of Operations in the Lebanese Army. The workshop took place on June 26 2012 at the Army Operations at the Ministry of Defense.
The Head of the Operations General Maroun Hitti conducted the training about the management of eld operations during incidents based on the Lebanese Army’s accumulated knowledge and experience in dealing with local and national incidents. All the members of the National Task Force attended the workshop representing the Ministries of Defense, Interior and Municipalities (Internal Security Forces, Civil Defense, Beirut Fire Brigade), Social Affairs, Education and Higher Education, Energy and Water, Communication, Public Works and Transport, Environment, Information, Council of Development and Reconstruction (CDR), the Lebanese Red Cross, in addition to the DRM unit at the Prime Minister’s Oce. The workshop aimed at building the capacities of the National Task Force members on the requirements needed for effective eld response during incidents, and constitutes part of a comprehensive capacity building program that targets all response agencies in Lebanon in order to put the National Response Plan into action, thus increasing the effectiveness of the eld operations and help minimizing the losses resulting from incidents.
